Why are they essential?
The reward and motivation of employees is a key factor in organisational performance. Employees must be comfortable that there is a fair and just remuneration system commensurate with the work they are entrusted to execute. The motivation of employees must go beyond financial reward and needs to include clear communication, teamwork and leadership. For sound motivation, the organisation must have the following:
- Salary scales benefits, bonus and incentives;
- Grievance and disciplinary procedures and handling;
- Staff communications;
- Teamwork and leadership.
